Hikvision Thermal Camera Temperature Measurement Configuration Instruction Manual

What is a thermal imaging camera?

Intelligent function: The thermal camera, with its ultra-environmental adaptability and ultra-long detection distance, solves many problems that cannot be solved with visible light equipment, and opens up new horizons for everyone. Due to temperature sensitive characteristics of thermal imaging equipment, when an object on screen exceeds a set temperature threshold, an abnormal temperature alarm is triggered.

Applicable scenarios: monitoring projects that need to control temperature, such as electrical temperature measurement, forest fire prevention, sea rivers, etc.

After reading previous introduction, let's talk about how to set up temperature measurement function of a thermal imaging camera today:

Smart thermal imager selection #1

Select "Temperature Measurement + Behavior Analysis/Smoke Detection" on "Configuration → System → System Maintenance → Thermal Imager Intelligence" page, and then click Save. Two smart functions support temperature measurement function at same time.

Local Configuration #2

Click Configuration tab on main interface to enter device configuration interface. Click Local, here you need to enable rule information, display temperature measurement information, and temperature information with snapshot overlay, as shown in picture below.

#3 Basic temperature measurement configuration

Select "Configuration → Temperature measurement → Basic configuration", check the "Enable temperature measurement function", check all options and click "Save". The display interface will be shown as below picture:

Extended temperature measurement configuration #4

Select Configuration→Temperature Measurement→Advanced Configuration. There are two tuning modes: Normal and Expert:

Normal mode

Normal mode is a full screen temperature measurement mode. You only need to set emissivity, distance, warning threshold and alarm threshold, and maximum and minimum screen temperature can be displayed in the preview interface. The specific setting method is as follows:

Expert Mode

Expert mode is divided into three temperature measurement rules: point temperature measurement, line temperature measurement, and case temperature measurement. Below are specific customization methods:

(Note: For products with a hanger go to step 1 and then step 2, for products without a hanger go directly to step 2)

Step 1. Use arrow keys on gimbal to adjust screen according to scene for which temperature measurement is required. Select a non-special preset position to be stored in this scene. This example uses "preset point 1" as an example, and then click "Set" to complete preset point setting.

Step 2. In list below preview interface, select temperature measurement rule line and set notification rules. The type of temperature measurement can be selected from point temperature measurement, line temperature measurement and body temperature measurement. One preset point can be set to 10 frames, 10 points and 1 line temperature measurement.

In list below preview interface, select temperature measurement rule row and set related parameters. Select Enable checkbox to enable this line of temperature measurement rules.

Name: Customize.

Type: Points, lines and rectangles are optional, and you can check them in preview interface after selection.

Distance: indicates linear distance between temperature measurement area and monitoring equipment, filled in according to actual distance. For accurate temperature measurement scenarios, it is recommended that distance between target and device does not exceed 50 m.

Reflection temperature: This function is recommended when there are high-temperature reflected noise sources around temperature measurement object. Check "Enable" and enter temperature of high/low temperature reflection interference source for reflection temperature.

Step 3. Set alert rule options, check "Alert Rules", and then click "gear". The Alert Rules interface will appear as shown in figure.

Warning and alarm temperature: Set warning and alarm threshold. For example, if "high temperature is greater than" is selected in alarm rule, warning temperature is set to "50°C", and alarm temperature is set to "55°C", then an early warning will be generated when detected temperature is higher than " 50°C”, and when temperature is higher than “55°C”, an alarm is generated.

Temperature tolerance. To prevent temperature fluctuations from affecting result of alarm, allowable temperature must be set. For example, if allowable temperature is set to “3°C” and alarm temperature is “55°C”, then device will alarm when detected temperature is “55°C”, and alarm will be canceled when detected temperature ≤52°C.

Filter time: Specifies duration for which temperature of measured object consistently exceeds threshold.

Step 4. Set temperature difference comparison between regions: 4 alarms can be set for same preset point to compare temperature difference between regions.

Step 5. Set alarm binding and corresponding binding method according to actual needs.

Step 6. After setting all steps, click "Save" to save settings. Return to preview interface, call preset point 1, and you will get temperature measurement screen as shown in the figure.

Green crosshair ID in figure: 4 (supports 10 point/area temperature measurement rules in one collection point) indicates point temperature, line temperature (only one line temperature measurement rule is supported), and a boxed cross. ID: 1 Indicates highest temperature in area, and green curve represents temperature corresponding to each point on horizontal line drawn.

Display Smart Rules

Choose Configuration → Image → Smart Rule Display, set channel number to thermal channel (usually channel 2), you can change temperature measurement rule frame color and temperature measurement display font size.
